Silk

Our silk

All our products are made in Vietnam. Our fabrics are made of 100 % silk. We only use ‘peace silk’, made without harming silk worms. Our silk is from Bao Loc. Located at an altitude of over 800m, 190km from Ho Chi Minh City, the Bao Loc Plateau is cool all year round with high rainfall, humidity and mist, suitable for growing mulberries and raising silkworms. Bao Loc silk is produced with modern technology from Japan and Korea, which makes its quality so superior. The silk cords are very thin and velvety which create a beautiful glossy silk product.

Washing
  • We prefer it when you dry clean our dresses. Tell your dry cleaner your garment is made of silk.
  • If you want to use the washing machine, silk can be cleaned in the woollen-cycle of your washing machine (water temp. 30°C). Use a mild soap. Always separate your colours and use a very short spin cycle.
  • A capful of white vinegar will protect your silk and its colour. A brittle texture and a matt finish are indicators of alkali damage, which can be minimized through rinsing with the vinegar solution.
  • Wet silk may yellow on a radiator or in direct sunlight. In the clothes dryer, your silk will suffer from the friction and the extreme lack of humidity. Avoid both of these methods.
  • To iron silk without damaging it, it’s crucial that you use the lowest heat setting on your iron. Lay the garment flat on the ironing board, place a press cloth (or handkerchief, pillowcase, or hand towel ) on top, and then iron.
  • For long-term storage, keep silk in a cotton pillowcase or other material that can breathe. Avoid plastic, which traps moisture and can cause yellowing and mildew. Silk, like other natural fibres, is a favourite with moths, so store cedar chips or balls with your silk to keep the bugs away.
