Cotton

Our cotton

Our towels are made of 100% Organic Cotton. Peshtemal towels are made from Turkish cotton, a premium cotton that has extra-long fibres. Using longer fibre cotton means fewer joins, which results in stronger and smoother cotton threads. Because of this unique material, Turkish towels are known to become even softer, fluffier, and more absorbent with successive washings. Much easier to transport than their terry towelling counterparts, these towels can be used as a beach towel, sarong or gym towel. Traditionally they were used in the super-hot hammams (Turkish baths) and therefore needed to be hard-wearing and good at drying in humid conditions. The towels are made with only the fines materials which are 100% cotton and produced in manually operated looms in west-Turkey.

Washing

To get the most out of your Turkish towel, let it soak in cold water for about 12 hours before you wash it for the first time. We suggest throwing it in your tub to soak overnight. This allows the cotton fibres to bloom and expand, ensuring maximum absorbency and softness. Wring the towel and let it hang dry. Note that you’ll only need to do this when you first get your towel, there is no need to repeat the process.
We recommend you wash your Turkish towel in cold or medium heat water, on a gentle cycle, with similar colours. Don’t use bleach or fabric softener. Fabric softener will actually make your towel less absorbent. We recommend hang drying them to help preserve the towel. If you wish to machine dry your towel, do so on low to medium heat. Use a warm iron to smooth out any unwanted wrinkles.
In the event that your towel gets caught on something and a thread gets pulled a bit out, you can simply cut off the piece of thread that is popping out. As your towel is woven, cutting this single piece won’t cause it to unravel.
